You wake up in the middle of the night with pain shooting through your body…, You re rushing to work and a tire on your car goes flat…
Its only the third week of the month and your bank account is empty…
What will be the first words out of your mouth?
It’s those first words that set the course for your day—as well as the rest of your life.
Is those first words that lift ou up into all the goodness of heaven, or drag you down into the destruction of hell.
Is those first words that expose what’s in your heart in abundance—the Word of God. or the words of the world. Words of faith, hope and love. Or, words of fear, doubt and anger
If it the goodness of God you want—all day, every day—then try this:
- Start praying the simple prayer David prayed in Psalm 141:3 “Set a watch, 0 Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”
- Ask the Holy Spirit to train you by opening your ears to the kind of words that come out of your mouth.
- Flood your spirit with Gods Word by giving quality time to the Word… meditating on it… speaking it out loud in all kinds of situations.
- Train yourself to speak to God the very first thing each morning, or any time you wake up from sleeping.
Make your first words of praise, words of thanksgiving, words of faith.
Start your day declaring the Word of God. As you do, soon find your first words becoming your all-day long words. And that’s how you get the Word into your heart in abundance.
That’s how you lay a foundation of faith.
That’s how you set your life on a course headed into the goodness of God.
